December 27, 1938 - Rosebud Alberta

October 9, 2024 - Edmonton Alberta

Lil, Bertha, Elizabeth Boyd (Holm), formerly of Sylvan Lake, AB, passed away peacefully in Edmonton, AB, on October 9, 2024, at the age of 85. Loving wife to Ron (predeceased in 2022), and proud mother to Scott (Barb), Deanne (John), and Denise (Barry), and doting Gramma to Dylan, Mark, Maggie, Jack, Thomas, Joseph, and all of her grand dogs.

Family was everything to Lil, but she also loved nature, gardening, dogs, getting and sending cards, and traveling with Ron by her side. That said, sport was her passion. Whether curling, golf, football, hockey, figure skating, swimming, skiing, or anything Olympic, Lil was an athlete and avid fan loudly cheering for the home team and cussing-out officials who would dare to penalize one of her heroes/heroines! Known as a people person, she was down to earth, humorous, friendly, and quick to make others welcome.

Lil was a nurse's nurse and spent her career caring for people in her community, including establishing surgical nursing units and generously caring for newborns in neonatal intensive care units.

A celebration for Lil, and Ron, full of revelry, stories, and informality will be held in Calgary, AB, in summer 2025 - ideally during Lil and Ron's beloved Calgary Stampede in July.

Lil had her favourite charities including the Canadian Cancer Society, STARS Air Ambulance, and the Sandra Schmirler Foundation. The family asks that you please take time to remember her in your own way.

Lil will be remembered and missed by all who knew her.

The Life that I have

Is all that I have.

And the Life that I have

Is Yours.

The love that I have

For the Life that I have

Is yours and yours and yours.

A sleep I shall have,

A rest I shall have,

Yet death will be but a pause.

For the peace of my years

In the long green grass

Will be yours and yours and yours. Please add your condolences to the comment area below.
