Janice (Laird) Bonsant
July 19, 1935 - October 20, 2024
Janice (Laird) Bonsant died peacefully in her sleep, Sunday October 20, 2024 at Harvest House, Capital Care Centre, in Sherwood Park AB.
Janice was born in Renown Saskatchewan on July 19, 1935.
Janice was a longtime resident of Sherwood Park moving to Glen Allen with her husband Chuck and her two children Charles and Christine in 1975.
Janice was a registered nurse for 50 years, with almost half of her nursing career working for the Alberta Alcohol and Drug Abuse Commission (AADAC). Where she worked at the Edmonton Detox Center and lastly at Henwood Treatment Center as the head nurse until she retired.
Janice was a avid volunteer holding various positions in the community, helping both Catholic and Protestant Churches. She was most proud of being a member of the Strathcona Arts Society. When she was the president of the society, she was instrumental for securing the Ottewell Barn as the home for the society. Her name can be seen on murals painted in both Fultonville and Ardrossan.
Janice is the last surviving child of Jim and Helen Laird, she was predeceased by her husband Chuck Bonsant.
She will be missed by her son Charles (Nadine) of Sherwood Park and Christine (Shawn) of Calgary, grandchildren Paige, Jacques, Lydia, Hannah and Luc, as well as many nieces, nephews and their families.
