Elaine Dueck
It is with great love, sadness and much gratitude for a life well-lived we announce the passing of Elaine Dueck.
Elaine was born on December 6th, 1945 to Ben and Betty Siemens in Morris, Manitoba, the oldest of 14 children. After graduating as a Licensed Practical Nurse in 1966, she worked in the Fisher River Hospital in Manitoba until she wed the love of her life a year later.
Elaine and Larry were married in 1967, and initially resided in Fisher Branch, Manitoba where their oldest two children, Rod and Sharlene, joined the family. The young family moved to Sexsmith, Alberta in the early 70’s. Maynard and Melisa were born in Grande Prairie, Alberta in the years to follow.
Elaine was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and community-builder. She worked hard to keep a beautiful home, and she loved Jesus, reading, entertaining, baking, sewing and gardening. Elaine started and ended each day in fellowship with her Heavenly Father, lifting each family member by name and circumstance. Her yard was always an oasis, just like her heart and spirit was to anyone in need. She is already greatly missed.
Elaine leaves to mourn her loving husband, Larry, of nearly 56 years, and their children: Rod (Tera) Dueck, Sharlene (Bill) Hilsabeck, Maynard Dueck (Karen Schiltroth), Missy (Garth) Finlay, and her grandchildren: Abram (Christine) Dueck, Anakate (Russell) Dueck-Price, Bethany Dueck (Mark Burton), Timothy Dueck, Matt (Holly) Hilsabeck, Joe Hilsabeck, Sophie Hilsabeck, Sam Dueck, Lauren Dueck, Lily Schiltroth, Hazel Finlay, and Arlo Finlay as well as two great-grandsons, Henry and Ezra Dueck. Elaine is also survived by her siblings; her twin brother, David (Kathy) Siemens, Minna (Arnold) Reimer, Alvina (Don) Heinrichs, Mary (Bob) Schniekart, John (Carol) Siemens, Julia Siemens, Menno (Nelda) Siemens, Elizabeth (Allan) Peters, Linda (Bill) Isaac, Vernon (Rhonda) Siemens, Becky (Bruce) Bartel, Christine (Wally) Toews, Reg (Connie) Siemens, and the loving Dueck family in-laws, as well as numerous nieces and nephews and cherished friends.
A funeral will be held for Elaine on Wednesday, June 15th at 11:00 am at Sherwood Park Alliance Church (1011 Clover Bar Road, Sherwood Park, AB T8A 4V7).
Interment will be at Colchester Cemetery, Strathcona County, AB
