LAGASSE, Albert Emile (Al)

Albert (Al/Emile) Lagasse, born in Fahler, Alberta, in 1943, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 10, surrounded by his family. Al joined the Canadian military in 1960 and served his country with honour while stationed worldwide. Throughout his military career, he forged bonds of camaraderie with lifelong friends whose loyalty and support remained steadfast throughout the years.

After retirement, Al's dedication to his community shone through his involvement in his beloved Royal Canadian Legion, where he found companionship and a sense of belonging among fellow veterans. He also found enjoyment on the golf course, a testament to his passion for sports. A loyal fan of college football and his beloved Edmonton Oilers, Al's community involvement reflected his deep- rooted love for his community and his faith.

Al was predeceased by his sister Jeanette and his loving wife, Annamay (nee Plain). He is survived by his brother Hank Jr., his daughter Shelley (Chris), and his cherished grandchildren Adam (Olivia) and Matthew. He is also survived by his devoted wife Shirley and loving stepchildren Shelley, Larry (Denene) Charise (James) and Robert (Maria). Their love and support brought light to his life, enriching his journey with joy and happiness.

Al's life will be celebrated at St Albert Catholic Parish on Friday, June 21, 2024, at 11:00 a.m.. Family and friends will gather to honour his memory and share stories of his remarkable life. Instead of flowers, donations to the Roozen Family Hospice Centre or the Alberta Cancer Foundation in Al's honour would be appreciated.
