Grace W.F. Rippin

On March 25, 2022, Grace Wilina Faye Rippin passed away after a brief illness, at the age of 80. Grace was born in High Prairie, Alberta on June 18, 1941 to Ruth and William Francis. She was second youngest of 16 children. After Ruth died when Grace was 13, she was taken in by her brother Waldo and wife Ena, until she was 19.

Grace is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Blair; their two children Karla (Kevin), and Rod (Angie); grandchildren Tala, Sierra, Gabby and Anthony and step grandchildren Garrett, Brenden and Maddoux.

Grace is survived by her brother Wayne, sisters Carol and Kathleen. She was predeceased by her parents; sisters Lillian, Ileen, Mae, Pamela, Joyce; and brothers William, Walter, Waldo, Willard, Albert, Ray and an unnamed baby.

During her life Grace had an amazing empathy for all. She was always kind, caring and upbeat to family and friends. After an hour or so of meeting a stranger, she would have learned all about their life, their relationships and usually the names of most of their family members. She never forgot birthdates for all her kin and friends.

Grace’s children were always forefront, receiving loving support and encouragement through their schooling and preparation for adult life. Grandchildren were Grace’s highlight in later life. Her goodbyes after visits or phone calls was always: “Love you more” and “I love you to Mars and back.”

Grace and Blair had a wonderful life together, often travelling the world, camping, staying at their cabin, attending family gatherings or just out on bird watching trips.

At Grace’s request, no service will be held at this time. A celebration of her life will take place at a later date.

Donations may be made in Grace’s memory to the Hope Mission in Edmonton, Alberta.
