Patricia (Pat) Joan Peacocke

March 29, 1932 - January 10, 2023

Born on March 29, 1932 in Lethbridge AB

It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Pat Peacocke on January 6, 2023, at the age of 90.  Pat will be missed by her family who loved her dearly.  Sharing wonderful memories of the joy she brought to our lives are her children Rod (Mayda), Dan (Jill), Donna (Al), and Bob (Marcy).  She will always have a special place in the hearts of her grandchildren Jordan, AJ (Lyndsey), Jaime, Kelsey (Travis), Chris (Jordan), Shannon (Mitch) as well as great grandchildren Tucker and Brielle.  Pat will also be dearly missed by her nieces on Vancouver Island, Pat, Diane, and Joanne along with her nephew, Mike from Lethbridge.  Many lifelong friends are left to mourn Pats passing.  Of particular note is the Patterson family of Turner Valley AB, with whom the Peacocke family has been especially close.

Pat is predeceased by her loving husband Jim, her brother Jack Schweitzer, and her parents Harvey and Jessie Schweitzer.

Pat was a nurse, completing her training at the University of Alberta in 1954.  She had a particular love for working in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.  In her retirement she became an avid “puzzler” and word game aficionado.

Pat and Jim were devoted parents, raising their children in the Wellington community of Edmonton.  Hockey and horses were the themes that ran through their child rearing years.  They were founders of the Edmonton Mounted Square Dancers, performing square dances on horseback at special events across Canada which they enjoyed immensely.

In 2007 Pat and Jim moved from Wellington to a ranch south-west of Whitecourt AB to fulfill a lifelong dream of enjoying a ranching lifestyle with their horses, precious dog Molly and two extremely well cared for farm cats, Ghost and Cassie.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Aster Gardens in Sherwood Park who helped make the transition following Jim’s passing and leaving their ranch possible.

As per Pat’s request a small gathering of family and friends will take place at a later date to celebrate her life.
